I like your commentary about McNamara and in general about the learning from mistakes of the past but I think things like decency and the difference between right and wrong take a back seat to winning and losing. This is because the consequences of losing in the decision maker's mind far out weighs what is the right thing to do. Perhaps this is why McNamara did what he did at the time but now has difficulty consoling himself for the actions he took.

In terms of every generation getting better, unfortunately history tends to repeat itself. Afganistan is the most recent example that comes to mind. 130 and counting.

I would just like to say that I have enjoyed myself immensely at your last 2 shindigs. We always over-buy on the food side and have too much left over... there is definitely a balance one has to strike while entertaining. So when's yer next party??? hint hint :-)

You're right, from this brief post I do come off as quite flippant. I've tried to locate the article I was reacting too online, but it doesn't seem to be archived.

I will admit, I am highly skeptical of the use of medical marijuana in this case because, to my knowledge, Doug functioned fine at work before he received a medical 'script allowing him to use it at work, and I assume he used marijuana recreationally for a long time before.

Seems a bit like getting a doctors note asking your workplace to build a gym for you. Sure it helps you, but it may not be the best use of resources if you're the only one that benefits.

Thanks for letting me know that he's helped you a lot. I'm glad to hear another side of this story.

I find your comments very judgemental, uninformed, and narrow minded. U can still teach and smoke weed and its your loss for not taking the course. I also smoke weed for medical reasons and Im very fortunate that Doug is helping me with the problems Ive been faced with regards to medical access and the abuse of the laws.
U should open your mind. I would be proud too if I was a leader and stood by my beliefs and medical needs and now he is spending his time helping others like me who need the support.
